                                        Modified Rules 2010

Modified program uses National Federation rules with the following exceptions:
Equipment:
A. All players including the goalkeeper must wear all required protective equipment: lacrosse helmet, arm pads, shoulder pads, gloves and mouth piece. The goalkeepr must also wear a chest protector and throat guard. ( Goalkeeper may wear shin guards and football pants with or without pads).
B. Only sneakers or molded rubber cleats are permitted. Cleats with spiks or screw ins are not permitted in any modified sport.
C. There shall be no rule restriction on the length of the stick in modified lacrosse providing the stick is at least 40 inches and not more then 72 inches. Common sense should be used to enable the player to properly control his crosse.
D. Modified players are EXEMPT from the color matching equipment rules-- helmets/sweat pants/ gloves etc. They are also EXEMPT from the uniform requirements.
Game Rules:
A. the length of the quarters shall be nine(9) minutes.
B. at the end of a 4 quarter contest if the score is tied, 2 overtime periods of 2 minutes each shall be played- both periods must be played. Regardless of the score after o.t. the game is over.  No overtime in 5 quarter contest. at the end of the fifth quarter the game is over.
C. During the last 2 minutes of regulation play( 4th or 5th quarter) the team ahead must keep the ball in the box once they enter the goal box area. No stalling or keeping it in during the over time periods.
D. Each team is permitted five(5) time outs per game. One  (1) time out per overtime period.
E. The 20 second clearing and 10 second advancing rules are NOT used.
F. Regular substitution (horn) are allowed on all out of bounds INCLUDING the end lines.
G. No random equipment checks are required.
H.Mercy Rule: in a 4 quarter game if a team is ahead by 12 goals or more the clock will run at the start of the 3rd quarter until the goal differential falls below 12. In a 5 quarter game if a team is ahead by 12 or more goals the clock will run at the start of the 4th quarter and continue until the differential falls below 12.
I. A one arm swing with the crosse, whether or not contact is made shall be considered a personal foul- slashing. This includes the over the head indian check.
J. There is no such call as a BRUSH in modified play, contact between crosse and helmet is a personal foul--slashing.
K.Offensive players may not reach into the goal crease to play a loose ball. This is the goalies ball. 
L. Body checking is allowed ONLY against a player who is in possession of the ball. NO man-- ball is allowed.
M. Goalies do not serve penalty time unless they recieve an unsportsmanlike foul. The goalie will remain in the game and the in-home shall serve, if the in-home is not on the field a player must leave the field during the penalty time. If the goalie recieves an unsportsmanlike foul he must leave the field and a replacement goalie(properly dressed and equiped) shall enter the game and the in home or another player must serve time as well.
N. No half time in a five (5) quarter game.
